Bannon Ave Etobicoke

This project was done in the summer of 2017 in the area of Dundas St. W. and Royal York Rd in Etobicoke. The client was referral from one of the architectus who works with us. He wanted to extend the living space of the property by building a large deck in the back of the house. The deck was around 800 sq. ft. and made of cedar and pressured treated wood on the piers.

We had to remove the small existing deck and relocate the hot tub for us to start the work. The final product looks seamless with the hut tub on the upper deck and the trees in the lower section.

We started the project doing the draining lines by installing wiping tiles to make sure the water runs away from the property. The footings are 4 ft underground which puts them just below the frozen line. We ended up using 40 footings in total. The join system was built using pressured treated wood to comply with the building regulations and to make the deck last longer. The property had limited access to the backyard so bringing the heavy equipment was a challenge.

We installed the boards using hidden deck fasteners which makes the deck look clean and lets you walk on it without shoes. The client can enjoy stepping on the deck with no worries.

One of the things that I enjoyed the most on this project was incorporating the trees shown in the photo and the deck. The architect designed the deck in a way that the trees and the 2 elevations of the deck divide the entire backyard in 3 areas.
Following the architect’s design, we built the fence to match the deck’s layout and make the entire backyard look bigger and modern. The fence was also made of cedar wood. We followed the level of the property as shown in the photos. To finalize the project we built a gate on the side of the house matching the design fo the deck and the fence.
