Old Orchard Grove

In this project in Toronto we were initially called to complete the concrete foundation, but we ended up doing the entire framing up to the roof line.

We did this job in the early days of 2017. It was cold and challenging. This is the first time we worked with this builder and they were very happy with our work.

When we started the project it was cold in the city. We had to close the area so we could keep working. Every morning we would have to sweep the snow around the house. The scaffolding in the photo is holding the tarp over our heads and we used a heater to keep us warm while we were working. The excavation was 6′ deep.

The basement’s elevation ended up being 8′ which is tall for a basement. The photo shows the old brick wall still in there but when we built the addition we removed the exterior brick wall and made the second and third levels continuous.

We built a concrete side entrance. We had to follow the new regulations for side entrance in which the foundation had to be 4′ deeper from the landing. The new roof was connected with the existing one. The framing was done by hand.
