On this project in Toronto we managed to achieve the client’s expectation by coordinating with his interior designer and coming up with a good solution to his needs. We replaced some framing, plumbing, electrical, insulation and installed a new heating concrete floor and wood floor. We finished the work with beautiful trims around the door frames. All this while making sure the existing rustic design was preserved.
The house had a problem with the sewer connection and the also with the structural frame of the house because a previous contractor did not follow the proper steps of removing a wall in the basement of the house.
The new shelfs were made of pine wood and spray painted twice. We asked the client about the dimensions that she wanted but she had no idea. So we went ahead and made calculations on our own based on our previous experience and came up with shelfs that are functional and the client’s books fit well. She was happy for her new book shelfs.
The house had a set of stairs that were not safe anymore and the elevation did not comply with the building regulations. So we designed and installed new winder stairs with a traditional handrail and other particular details.
We also renovated a washroom in the basement. We decided to use handmade subway tiles (3′ x 6′) and hexagonal tiles on the floor. The designer really nailed it with the contrasts of the dark floor and white counter tops. The light fixtures and the vanity was also very unique for a washroom of this size.
We also worked in the laundry and mechanical rooms. We used oversized dark grey hexagonal tiles on the floor and custom made shelfs for extra storage.
